Our farmland is located in what is known locally as the ‘new Boma’, which is southwest of the main town. The farm is just east of the River Sanya and is accessed from a dirt track. Pastor Tukai built a farmhouse in 2008 and consists of 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, toilet, shower and some storerooms.
Pastor & Monica Tukai spend a lot of time on the farm managing the staff, working the fields and looking after the animals. They grow maize, bananas, sunflowers, etc. All produce is used to feed the children in the orphanage and the school children. Animals on the farm include goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys and a few cows to supply milk.
A sustainable pig farm on the farmland was build in 2010 to benefit the orphanage. Thankfully the pig farm provides food and a little money for the children’s home.
